Greetings Family and Friends,
This year has been a roller coaster ride that none of us purchased tickets to ride. It seems like the ride that never comes to a stop. When I ask family and friends to describe the last eight months many find it hard to describe, yet one word keeps coming up. exhausted, mentally, emotionally, for some financially, and for many spiritually exhausted.
The question is where do we take our exhausted hearts, minds, and bodies to be refreshed and revived. Jesus answers this question for us in the Gospel of Matthew.
"Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take up my yoke and learn from me,
because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls". - Matthew 11:28-29
Did you catch the invitation to come and spend time with God? Did you notice the promise of rest for our souls? WOW!
Could you imagine what it would be like to experience Jesus in this way? The truth is that you and I can experience this kind of personal communion with Jesus each day.
In fact, I want to challenge each of us to start our days slow. I want each of us to slow down and surrender the first 10 minutes of our day to talking with God.
We are taking the last 40 days of this year to prepare our hearts. heads and hand for what God is calling us too in the upcoming year.
So how will this work, each day we have a Scripture for the day to meditate on, to pray through, to allow to soak in, and most importantly as God speaks and the Spirit moves, we want to respond with scribing and sharing with others as the Lord leads.
Start with a commitment to surrender the first ten minutes of your day to meet with God. Find a place daily where you can experience solitude and stillness. (No cell phones, TV chatter, no music playing, avoiding distracted conversations)
Read the Scripture of the day and ask the Spirit of the Lord for His wisdom to press in on your heart. Speak with God and listen to God speak through His Word and by the Spirit of God.
Scribe (journal) write what you believe the Lord is saying to you at that moment.
Commit to sharing what you are learning as you spend time with God. If you share on social media use the hashtag #thehec40days
